It’s critical that off-campus houses have working smoke detectors in every room. The Foundation organizes events where our volunteers pass out smoke alarms and raise awareness to students living off-campus.

In addition to passing out smoke alarms, the Foundation hands out fire extinguishers to students living off-campus in case of emergencies.

The Foundation teams up with local fire departments in college communities to ensure that their off-campus houses are up to code. The Foundation also organizes and participates in the house-to-house inspections to help answer any questions students have.

The DC Burn Foundation is dedicated to assisting in the recovery and rehabilitation of injured firefighters and burn patients in the D.C. Metropolitan Area. They support burn research, treatment, and rehabilitation programs at Washington Hospital Center as well as the Children’s Burn Camp Program. The Foundation has supported the foundation over the past several years.

Memorial Scholarship: Daniel H. Rigby ‘01 Financial Aid Fund – Bergen Catholic was a huge part of Dan’s life even after he graduated from high school. The scholarship is awarded to a Bergen Catholic student in high academic standing who demonstrates a passion for, and commitment to, community volunteerism.

The Daniel H. Rigby Memorial Scholarship – An endowed Scholarship in Daniel’s honor at his Alma Mater, Georgetown University. The Foundation is quickly approaching its goal of endowing the Daniel H. Rigby scholarship at Georgetown University.

One of Dan’s passions was baseball and although he stopped playing after high school he continued on as a little league umpire. The Foundation has sponsored the North Newark Little League as a part of its mission to participate in worthwhile charitable endeavors that were close to Dan’s heart.

The Foundation sponsors a team in the River Edge Little League where, as a child, Dan was a very active member.
