Why contribute to general operating funds?

General operating funds allow for greater flexibility with management since the money would not be restricted by law for its use. For example, money earmarked by donations for one of the scholarships must then be used for the scholarship.

How then would the Foundation grow the scholarships?

All money at the end of the fiscal year budget is allocated according to the Board of Directors. It is written in our Articles of Incorporation and company By-Laws that at least 15% must be given to each respective scholarship at the end of the year. Therefore, having more money in general funds at the discretion of the unpaid Board of Directors creates better long-term opportunities for growth and expansion.
